Bernice Mae Lee, 86, of Holmen, died peacefully on Aug. 23, 2015, at her home in Holmen. She was born on May 22, 1929, to Arthur and Elsie (Oertel) Gollnick. She married Boyd N. Lee on May 10, 1951, in La Crosse and was married for 64 years.

Bernice grew up in Smith Valley and attended the one room school there. She was a graduate of La Crosse Central High School.

Bernice enjoyed her early years dancing at the Concordia and Avalon where she met her husband. She volunteered many hours making quilts and serving funeral dinners at the Holmen Lutheran Church. She dedicated her life to her family, garden and farm.

We will remember her for her wonderful meals and baking, especially “grandma’s hamburger buns.” Bernice was an avid Brewer fan and was always ready to play cards and go fishing. We will miss her dearly.

Bernice is survived by her husband; children: Barry (Nancy) Lee, Lorie (Norman) Bednarek, Keith (Sue) Lee, Adrian (Julie) Lee; grandchildren: Bryan, Maura, Tyler, Ciara and Isaac Lee; Andy, Brent and Chelsea Bednarek; and Adrian Sullivan; great grandchildren: John and Luna; and special pet, Bentley. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Harry, Robert and Arnold Gollnick.

The family thanks the Gundersen Health Hospice and ResCare Home Health for their services, kindness and support.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Coulee Region Cremation Group and Funeral Home, 133 Mason St., Onalaska.  Pastor Matt Toso will officiate with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gundersen Health Hospice or St. Claire Health Mission.
