Betty E. Crusan, 85, of Stoddard peacefully passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

Betty was born on September 17, 1924, in Madison, S.D. to Art and Gertrude Bohl.  She graduated from a two year business college in Madison in 1943.  She moved to Baltimore, MD, where she worked at Bethlehem Steel.  While she was there, she met C. R. (Chris) Crusan and they were married on May 19, 1945.  They moved to South Dakota where they farmed until 1962.  They moved into Madison, SD, where Betty worked as a bookkeeper until she retired.  As a young person, Betty enjoyed sewing, bowling, archery and dancing to “big band” music.  After retiring, she spent her time doing crafting, crossword puzzles, playing cards and spending time with family.  She moved to Stoddard in 2005.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Lina Crusan, of Portland, ME; her son, Jon (Gwen) Crusan, of Stoddard, WI; five grandchildren, Kelly, Chris, Brianna, Nikki, and Chris Patrick; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan and Minna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Elmer Bohl, and her husband, C. R. Crusan.

A visitation will be at Stoddard United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 9, from 1:30-2:30PM.  A short memorial service will follow the visitation.  Rev. Lewis LeBakken will officiate the service.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
