Obituary

Darin John Skoy

September 21, 2016

Darin John Skoy, 50, of Onalaska, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 17, 2016.  He was born on November 13, 1965 to James and Joanne (Nekola) Skoy.

He was a 1984 graduate of Onalaska High School.  He worked at Gateway/Fleming for 17 years and was a City Brewery employee for 13 years to date.

Darin was a quiet caring man with a great sense of humor.  “D.J.” was our #1 son,” Best brother ever” and a proud uncle who is much loved by his niece and nephews. He was “One of the Good Ones!”

He loved reading books, listening to music, watching movies and gaming.  He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams with his family and friends.

Darin will be greatly missed by his dad as his golf partner, by both his mom and dad as a fellow road tripper, handy man and dinner companion.  His sisters will miss hanging out with their big brother,

his laugh, and his strength. He was always there for them when they needed him.  He was the “cool” uncle who was a kid himself when playing with his niece and nephews.

He is survived by his parents, James and Joanne (Nekola) Skoy of Onalaska; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Dana and Bruce Hoesley, of Fountain City and Beth and Eric Earney of Trempealeau; one niece and three nephews, Samantha Hoesley, Rob Hoesley, Jim Hoesley and Aiden Earney, as well as lots of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, Daniel and Marguerite (Otto) Nekola, Gordon and Vivian (Taylor) Skoy and uncles, Gary Nekola and Ken Skoy.

Thank you to all our friends and family for the support and prayers at this very difficult time.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main Street, Onalaska, with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of mass. Msgr Steven Kachel will officiate with burial at Onalaska City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

Condolences
