Obituary

Donald Hawkins

November 7, 2014

Don was born in Janesville WI to Richard and Edna (Popanz) Hawkins. He moved to Evansville WI when he was 12 years old to live with Sam and Rose Wilde. He graduated from Evansville High School. Dons’ friends and neighbors selected him to serve in the United States Army. He served two years including a stint in Germany. Don was employed at Uniroyal in Stoughton Wi and then JATCO in Janesville Wi as a Mechanic until his retirement. He was a proud member of UAW Local 95. Don plowed snow on the side for many years.

Don was very active in the Fraternity of Freemasonry as a member of Union Lodge #32 F and A. M. in Evansville where he was a past Master of the Lodge. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Zor Shrine. Don rode many years with the Zor Shrine Escort Patrol, performing in parades all over the area raising funds for the Shrine Hospital.

Don saw most of the United States atop his Harley’s accompanied by many riding buddies over the years. He was always up for a motorcycle ride, a good meal and a couple of drinks. He also enjoyed watching Nascar.

Don’s retirement enjoyment was short lived. He suffered medical problems that placed him in assisted living much too young.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Rose Wilde, granddaughter Kiani Hawkins, and nephew David Hawkins Jr. He is survived by a daughter Kristin (Steve) Knepper of Galesville Wi, a son Dustin (Makya) Hawkins of Chanhassen MN grandchildren Reed Knepper, Kayla Knepper and Karma Vandiver. Also his brothers Jerry (Pam) Hawkins of Danville KY and David (Diane) Hawkins of Janesville WI.

Thank You to the people of the Kelly House in Evansville Wi and Maranuka Manor in Galesville Wi for caring for Don.

Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 pm Tuesday November, 11 at 104 W. Main St Evansville. This is an open service.

In lieu of any cards or flowers a donation to the Shrine Hospital would be appreciated. Also go out and enjoy a nice meal and a drink!!

Condolences
