Dorothy Lorraine Daily

January 29, 2016 | 1 comment

Dorothy Lorraine Daily is having coffee in heaven. She passed away on January 28, 2016 at her home in Holmen, at the age of 88.   She was born to Martin and Clara Olson on August 23, 1927.  She married Jack Daily on November 1, 1946 in the Holmen Church Parsonage on Morris Street.

Dorothy’s children were her greatest blessing and she said that often (more often after they were grown) and she always had a great variety of interests.  She and Jack square danced for many years and made many lasting friendships.  She loved playing games and cards with family and her card clubs. She loved to sew, was an avid reader, worked crossword puzzles, watched Jeopardy and rolled an occasional meatball or made quilts with the church ladies.  Even after her eye sight began to fail she still wouldn’t give up on her beloved Brewers, golf and game shows.

Dorothy retired from the Holmen School District where she guided many students and teachers through early education.

She is survived by her children Virginia Gibbons, Judy (Scott) Lee, Steve(Carol) Daily, Paula Hammes, John (Bambi) Daily, Mike Daily, Kelly Jo (Gopper) Krause, Tracy (Bruce) Wavra, Susan Daily, and Lynne Proksch, 32 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack in 1985, her daughter Kerry Daily-Pierce, grand-daughters Michelle Wing and Lacey Daily, son-in-law Steve Hammes, sister Connie Betsinger, and brother Robert (Red) Olson.

Visitation will be Monday Feb 1st from 5-7pm at the Coulee Region Cremation Group at 133 Mason Street, Onalaska.  Funeral services will be Tuesday Feb 2nd at 11:00 with visitation 1 hour prior at Halfway Creek Lutheran Church, Holmen. Private family burial will be held at a later date.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

Condolences
