Erland “Bud” McRae
Erland “Bud” McRae, 82, of Onalaska, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, February 28, surrounded by his family at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.
Bud was born in Mondovi, WI on July 22, 1932 to Randolf and Leila (Becker) McRae. Bud joined the US Airforce in 1955 and served for 12 and a half years, spending time in the southwest and Germany. Bud married Phyllis (Tripp) of Onalaska, WI on June 1, 1957. They were blessed with three children: Rodney, Susan, and Sandra. Bud is remembered for his love of polka music and the many years he spent playing the accordion.
Bud is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three children, Rodney (Barb) McRae of Eau Claire, WI, Susan (Keith) Nelson of Lone Tree, CO, Sandra (Jeff) Weber of La Crosse; five grandchildren, Ryan, Mitch, Meagan, Sam, Hannah; brothers, Lauren (Thea), Gordon (Joan); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Millard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Noon at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1201 Main St., Onalaska. Pastor Bill Bader will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Onalaska American Legion Post 336. A visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the service at the church Saturday. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
