James Wayne Fishel

James Wayne Fishel, 54, of Mauston, formerly of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2015 at Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston.  He was born on March 28, 1960 to George and Melpha (Sagdalen) Fishel.

James enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He loved the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Cubs.  He was a self taught musician and played bass, lead guitar, drums, and harmonica and liked to play at local jams and fill in for various area bands.  James worked at Avalon Express Inc, in Mauston, Wisconsin.  He often volunteered at the Salvation Army.  James was a religious man and loved to read the Bible.  He served in the US Navy from April 21, 1978 to August 12, 1981 where he served on the USS Belleau Wood Aircraft Carrier.

James is survived by his siblings, Delpha (Dean)Blumentritt of Onalaska, WI, John (Sandra) Fishel of Houston, MN, Richard Fishel of Arcadia, WI, Douglas Fishel of Glen Haven, CA, Craig (Diane) Fishel of Canton, MN, Rebecca Ames of Stoddard, WI; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Melpha Fishel; brother, George Fishel Jr.; and sister, Bonnie Dolan.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday January 17 at the Salvation Army Chapel 223 N 8th St La Crosse, WI. with visitation one hour prior to the service also at the Salvation Army Chapel.  H. Joseph Duncan will officiate.  A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army are preferred.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
