Janet Marie (Teal) Orevillo

March 31, 2017 | 3 comments

Janet Marie (Teal) Orevillo, our beloved mother, sister, grandma, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her children at Capitol Lakes Health Center in Madison, WI, on March 28, 2017. She was 72 years old.

Born in Ontario, WI on September 20, 1944, Janet spent her youth and adulthood making lifetime friendships. She graduated from Central High School in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1962. She then went on to graduate from the University of Minnesota’s X-Ray program after which she worked as an X-Ray technician in Wisconsin and California. She was selected by Gunderson Clinic to attend college in Loma Linda, California and graduated and became one of the first Ultrasonographers in Wisconsin. She worked for over 30 years in this field, around the country. She had many fun times on bowling leagues, enjoyed pottery and antiques, and would never turn down a drum and bugle corps show if asked. After retirement, Janet spent quality time with her children and grandchildren, despite a lengthy, quiet battle against systemic and chronic medical conditions. She gave it a strong fight over the past few years, surviving by the grace of love, and excellent care at Capitol Lakes Health Center in Madison. Thank you to Agrace Hospice Care and to the Coulee Region Cremation Group for their care and support.

Janet is survived by her two children, Chad Goldsmith (Megan Glomb), Leilani (Ryan) Amundson; grandsons, Rowan and Asher; granddaughter, Avelyn; sister, Joyce (Teal) Taylor; brothers, Bill Teal and Jack Teal (Barb Teal); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Goldsmith; her parents, Charley and Sylvia Teal; and daughter-in-law, Kimberly (Hintz) Goldsmith.

A celebration of Janet’s life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 401 West Avenue, La Crosse, WI. Doors will open at 10:30 a.m. Friends and relatives are encouraged to come and share their best memories. In lieu of any memorial gifts, donations to the Coulee Region Humane Society, or another charity, would honor Janet’s love of giving.

Condolences

I hated to hear that Aunt Janet passed away. It’s been a long, long time since I’ve seen her but when I think of Aunt Janet I always think she had the best smile and the best laugh. Losing your mom is a hard thing to go through and I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you positive thoughts and prayers as you go through the days ahead.
