Larry G. Hemker

Larry Gene Hemker, 75, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2016 at home. He was born January 14, 1941 to Clarence and Lucille Hemker.

Larry enjoyed gardening, watching and feeding his birds, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the West Salem Legion, VFW and 40 et 8. He retired from Trane Company after 39 years.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Sarah (Larry) Benson, Rachel (Greg Lennartz) Hemker; sister, Nancy (Donald) Knudtson; grandchildren, Aaron Hemker, Heather Parkes, Cassandra Tuma, Tayt Tuma, Bethany Tuma, Cash Lennartz, Alison Lennartz, Bryce Benson, Beau Benson; great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Judith.

The family would like to thank Olivet Lutheran Church and a very special thank you to Sandy and the rest of the Gundersen Hospice team.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 11:00 am with a visitation from 9:00 am until the service at the Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. Interment with military honors will be held at the Christ Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in West Salem.

    My Uncle Jerry was so close to Larry, hanging out with him at the Krazy L playing the bowling machine. They got to be great friends over the years. So my the behalf of my self and my Uncle Jerry we would like to say fly high Larry. Our condolences to his family.

      Thank you Vickie. My dad spoke very highly of your uncle Jerry. I have met him many times in the L. Wonderful man. Dad will be missed by many.

    I always knew that Larry was a special guy. The video tribute was wonderful and I really enjoyed watching the video. God bless the family. I feel blessed that I got to meet this extraordinary man. Having a conversation with Larry was always easy and pleasant. He is a true gentleman and a true hero.
