Mary Lou (Gunderson) VerHagen passed away Friday, September 19, 2014 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse surrounded by her family. She was born on December 15, 1933 and married Gerald VerHagen in 1955. Described by her husband as a great wife and mother, she was a true sample of God’s love, always putting the needs of her family before her own.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Alberta M. Gunderson; father, Clarence Raymond Gunderson; and brother, Bruce Gunderson.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald D. VerHagen; brother, Clarence “Jack” (Darlene)Gunderson; sisters, Kay (Allan) Lamovec, Joan Lee, Sharon Bluedorn; daughters, Sharon (Arthur) Miller, Diane (Steven) Cleveland, Janice (Frank) Fogel, Jeri VerHagen, Joyce (Bob) Low, Bonnie (Kurt) Grether, Kari (Mitch) McConnell; 21 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 233 West Ave S. in La Crosse with visitations on Wednesday September 24, 2014 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm and also one hour prior to the service both at the church.
Coulee Region Cremation Group and Funeral Home is assisting the family.
