Michael Francis Dummer

HOLMEN — Michael Francis Dummer, 64, died Sunday, July 30, 2017, at his home. Mike was born on September 23, 1952, to Francis and Shirley (Wenner) Dummer. He married Kathleen Sonsalla on October 12, 1974, and resided on the family farm until his time of death.

Mike is survived by his wife Kathy, three daughters Amy Dummer, Beth (Adam) Gamoke, and Tracy Dummer; grandchildren Matthew and Reese Gamoke; mother Shirley Dummer; and siblings Jim (Donna) Dummer, Kathy L. Dummer, Bob (Christine Michels) Dummer, Jane (DeeDee Stone) Stogbauer, and Tom (Heidi Antonneau) Dummer.

He is preceded in death by his son Gregory Michael Dummer, father Francis Dummer, and his grandparents.
Mike loved nature and spent his free time fishing, hunting, trapping, and bee-keeping. He also enjoyed wood-working and home brewing.

He served his community on the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Long Range Planning Committee, Town of Holland Board, Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association, Dairy Marketing Initiative, and Holmen Lions Club.

Mike spent his career in agriculture including Dummer Family Farms, National Farmers Organization, Equity Livestock, and served eighteen years on the State of Wisconsin Department of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection.

Mike’s family is grateful to the Mayo Clinic doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff and to the Gundersen Hospice team.

A Prayer Service will be held at St Elizabeth Church, 515 N Main St in Holmen, on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow until 3:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Holland Town Hall, W7937 Co Rd MH in Holmen, on Sunday, August 13, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with a Time of Remembrance at 1:00 p.m. Please bring a non-perishable food donation for the local food pantry.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holmen Area Community Center Building Fund, Mayo Clinic La Crosse Cancer Center, and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
