Michael John Blumentritt

Michael John Blumentritt, 46 of Onalaska, passed away peacefully on March 19,2015 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.  He was born on December 30, 1968 to Dean and Delpha “Dee” (Fishel) Blumentritt with a congenital heart defect. 

Michael has a special spark for life and lived life to the fullest.  He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing with Bernie Baumgartner and camping.  Watching professional wrestling, going to the gym and also was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan were also some of Michael’s favorite activities.  The joy of Michael’s life was his family, especially the time spent with his nieces and nephews.    Michael’s St. Bernard was his pride and joy.  Michael had a special way of touching the hearts of those that he came into contact with and left a lasting impression of a life well lived.  

He is survived by his parents,  sister Pam (Terry) Miller,  brothers Randy (Shelly) and Tim, nieces and nephews, Cassie (Cody) Bird, Patty (Mike) Hakala, Ryan Wuttke, David Newman, Sam White (Brandon Worke), Eric Ward, eight great nieces and nephews, a special cousin Vance Fishel; friend, Don Karels; and many other relatives and countless friends. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

The Blumentritt family would especially like to thank Dr, Van Elston, Dr Sue MacLellan-Tobert, Dr. Kelly Bahr and all the Pediatric Specialties Staff at Gundersen Health System for the kind and compassionate care given Michael throughout the years along with the hospital staff that was there for Michael in his final days.  The family would also like to thank the DeFlorian family “his 2nd family” and Peggy Pelishek.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at the Coulee Region Cremation Group and Funeral Home, 133 Mason St, Onalaska.  Pastor Dana Jackson will officiate.  Visitation will be held Monday from 4-7 pm and also on Tuesday from 10-11 A.M both at the funeral home.

    Prayers are coming your way to help you get through this tough time. Enjoy all of your good memories, as I’m sure that is what Michael would want. He no longer suffers, he’ll be now watching over you as you had done for him. I’m sure that God has wrapped His arms around Michael, and given him the job of being your guardian angel, until the day that you will be with him in your eternal life.     Dee and your family I was so shocked to see this especially since I just talked to you last week! Sending my thoughts and prayers to all of you! You said he was having a rough time with his breathing so know that he shall suffer no more! Judi
