Patrick E. Volden

Patrick E. Volden, 66, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19 at Gundersen while surrounded by family.
He was born in La Crosse on December 2, 1948 to Delores (Breidel) Hollowitch. He married Barbara McNeill on June 30, 1990.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, Pat is survived by four children: Becky (Jason) Slocum of FL, Amy Calkins of WA, Brandon Grosskopf of La Crosse, and Bobbie McNeill of MN. He is also survived by his granddaughters: Mercedes, Anisah, Hazel, and Selina and one great-grandson, Evan. Pat is survived by his father, Francis Hollowitch, two sisters: Diane (Howard) and Carolyn, and six brothers: Robert (Karen), Daniel (Diane), Steve, Gene (Sue), Butch, and Jeff. Pat also leaves behind his best friend, and brother-in-law, Pete McNeill.
Pat attended Central High School until 1966 when he enlisted in the US Army. During this time, he served in the Vietnam War.
Pat had a green thumb and could often be found in his yard tending to his flowers. He participated in Horseshoe League for a few years and he enjoyed camping every year at Goose Island. Pat was also an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Many will be remember Pat for his famous line, “Just one more beer and I’m out of here.”
Pat was proceded in death by his mother, Delores, and grandparents Emil and Anna (Potaracke) Breidel.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska. Pastor Richard Pierce will officiate.
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Gundersen Lutheran for their support and wonderful care of our husband, father, and papa.

    So sorry to hear of “Sarge’s” passing. We loved our time with him at Sundays Bakeshop & Eatery; we miss how he would tell us stories of him talking with Brett Farve or the Dahli Llama. Underneath his rough exterior, he had a good heart.
    Thanks, Sarge, for your service to this country, and for touching our lives! We hope you are peace, Mr. Panman.
