Obituary

Ralph E. Hagen

April 24, 2017 | 1 comment

Ralph E. Hagen, of Onalaska Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday April 12, 2017 at Gundersen Health System.  Born to Hollis (Alf) and Milda Hagen on August 28, 1953 and was the 3rd youngest of 4 children.

He was one of those men who could do anything he put his mind to. His career choices lead him to home construction, sewer installation and repair, driving truck and bending glass.  When he wasn’t working and his health allowed him to, you could find him putting any of these skills to work helping family and friends.

Ralphs’s diagnosis of ALS in 2014 prevented him from doing most of the things he enjoyed, riding his motorcycle with his brothers and sisters from the SFB motorcycle club, always trying to catch the big Muskie or spending time at the old family homestead known as “The Valley”.

Ralph was a man who loved his family and friends. While ALS took away his physical strength it didn’t take away his ability to spend time with his daughter Jennifer and the two of them continued to make memories that she will carry with her forever.  His laugh was infectious and even at the end he was able to brighten up the room with his smile.

Survivors include his daughter Jennifer Hagen; his sister Sharon Nagle, his brother Dale Hagen; sister-in-law Kathy Hagen and many special Aunts, Uncles cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother Roger Hagen; and brother-in-law Jim Nagle.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Yaeger, Dr. Sallaway, the Hospice Staff and the nurses in Medical and Oncology Unit at Gundersen Health Systems for their compassion and care.

A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, April 29 from 11:00 – 1:00 at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St. Onalaska with a Celebration of Life from 1:00 – 4:00 at Robins Nest, 328 Goddard St. La Crosse.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
