Richard “Dick” A. Sjolander

Richard “Dick” Arlan Sjolander, 70, of Onalaska, passed away unexpectedly on May 16, 2016 in La Crosse. He was born October 4, 1945 to Tillman and Ruth (Hauser) Sjolander. He married Barbara Leisgang on April 7, 1973 at First Lutheran Church in Onalaska.

He was the co-chairman of the Miss West Salem Pageant, a past president of June Dairy Days, a member of the Onalaska American Legion Post 336, and a member of the Lions Chapter in Barre Mills. He served in Korea during Vietnam with the armed forces advisory group in the Air Force.

Dick loved his Green Bay Packers, coin collecting, penny slots, euchre, and cribbage. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends the most.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Jennifer (Josh) Miller, Deanna Sjolander; grand-daughters, Allyson Larson, Rhyen Larson; brothers, Jerry Sjolander, Carl (Cindy) Sjolander; mother-in-law, Frances “Pearl” Leisgang; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Robert Leisgang; and sister-in-law, Kathleen Sjolander.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 22nd at 11:00 am at the Coulee Region Cremation Group and Funeral Home, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. Pastor Ted Dewald will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Hauser Cemetery in Onalaska with military honors by the Onalaska American Legion Post 336 and the US Air Force Honors Detail.
