Obituary

Rick Dull

March 12, 2017

Rick was born to Velma (Chitwood) and Frank Dull in Richland Center, WI on July 19, 1944. He spent his childhood growing up in Soldiers Grove, a community that he always cherished. During this time he developed a passion for hunting and fishing. After high school, he enlisted in the army from 1962-1965 in which he was a paratrooper and worked in radio communications. He eventually made his way back to Soldiers Grove, and began work in the construction industry. In 1974 he began work for Ryan Incorporated Central, and had a 30 year career with them. He was a very conscientious hard worker, travelling throughout the mid-west with his co-workers who became like extended family to him. Rick met the catch of his of his life, and married Nancy (Coleman) on the banks of the Kickapoo River. They have been together for over 42 years. After retirement, he was able to spend several days a week at the farm in Soldiers Grove that he co-owned with his best friend Dennis Connely. He loved being there; hunting, hiking, four wheeling, farming, and tending to his garden. He was an avid (anxious) sports fan, watching football and basketball, but his favorite sport was baseball. Rick’s other great joy in life was becoming a grandpa to Luca Max Pacheco. In addition to his wife and grandson, Rick is survived by his daughter Sara Dull Pacheco (Jesus) of Oakland, CA, son Dylan Dull of Onalaska, sister Burnetta Campton of Viroqua, his mother-in-law Dollie Coleman of Soldiers Grove, sisters and brothers-in-law, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Duane Dull, and his father-in-law Victor Coleman.

Many thanks to the Mayo Cancer Center in LaCrosse, and the Sparta Hospital 3rd floor staff for all of their care and support during Rick’s courageous battle with Melanoma. There will be visitation at the Onalaska United Methodist Church from noon -2pm with a memorial service to follow on Tuesday, March 14th. Please direct memorials to Melanoma Research Department of Development at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Rick’s special sense of humor and kind spirit will be in our hearts forever.

Condolences
