Obituary

Robert Donald Vigue

March 10, 2017 | 2 comments

Robert Donald Vigue was born on February 16, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Clarence and Adele Vigue.  He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1952 and joined the Army, where he spent some time stationed in Germany. After his discharge from the Army, Bob moved to California to attend Northrop Institute of Technology and obtained a B.S. degree in engineering.  He spent many years as an aerospace engineer with TRW Systems in Redondo Beach, California.  He later became self employed, buying, selling, and managing real estate and oil wells.

Bob married Beverly Sorenson on August 21, 1965, in Manhattan Beach, California, and two children were born to this union.  In 1979 the family moved to West Salem, Wisconsin to enjoy small town living.

Bob was an excellent golfer and also enjoyed fishing.  Most of all he loved spending time with his wife and children.  He loved talking with people and had a wonderful sense of humor.  He spent much time at his favorite corner table in Linda’s Bakery chatting with people, doing crossword puzzles, working on his financial paperwork and keeping up with the stock market.

He and Beverly spent many years volunteering at the Coulee Region Humane Society, and Bob was instrumental in the building of the first outdoor dog runs.  They especially enjoyed taking dogs to PetSmart to show for adoption.

Bob is survived by his wife Beverly, daughter Kimberly (Tim) Splinter, son Sean (Jillian) Vigue, brother Gerald (Andrea) Vigue, brothers-in-law Dewey (Pat)Sorenson, Galen Sorenson, Randy Sorenson, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father in law, brother James Vigue and his wife Cathy, and a special sister-in-law Maxine Thielen Sorenson.

We would like to thank everyone at Mayo Franciscan Skemp Cancer Center and Hospital for their kind compassionate care.  And a thank you also to Pastor Stephanie Steiner of the West Salem Presbyterian Church.  A memorial service may be scheduled at a later date.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

Condolences
