Rosebetty Kaufman Short (age 84) of Onalaska, WI passed away in the early hours of January 2, 2017 after a lengthy hospitalization at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, WI.

Rosebetty was born on December 8, 1932 to Samuel and Cecelia (Hochberg) Kaufman in Minneapolis, MN and was raised and educated in the Twin Cities.

She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1954 and married the love of her life Marshall H. Short on August 15, 1954 at Temple Israel in Minneapolis, MN.  She taught elementary school at the John Borroughs School in Minneapolis until starting her family. When her children were young adults she returned to teaching as a classical piano instructor in Chicago and Herrin, IL.

She is survived by her devoted husband, her sister Marilyn Raskin of St. Louis Park, MN, her daughter Jackie Short Kamm (Edmund) of Oak Brook, IL, her son Daniel Short (Jennifer Scarth) of La Crosse, WI, son-in- law Todd Livesey of Aurora, IL, her three grandchildren, Ethan Short, Benjamin Short and Eliana Short of La Crosse, WI, nephew Ronald Raskin (Suzie) of Highland Park, IL, and nieces Debbie Rosenthal (Scott) of Plymouth, MN and Anne Raskin (Diane Hacker) of San Francisco, CA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters, Pamela Short Healy and Stacey Short, her son-in- law Steven Healy and her brother-in- law Martin Raskin.
