Steven Paul Huber of La Crosse, 63, died Friday June 25^th at Bethany Riverside after a long illness. He was born July 18, 1946, the youngest child of George and Gladys Huber and grew up in the La Crosse area.

 

After finishing school he worked mainly as a silk screener.

In 1978 he married Debra Shephard. They had 2 children and divorced in 1986. He moved to Fergus Falls, MN in 1990 and married Amy Whitcombe at St James Episcopal church. He had worked at the Regional Treatment Center until he became disabled in 2002. The couple returned in the La Crosse area in 2007.

He is survived by His wife he Rev (Deacon) Amy Huber, his children Matt (Erin) Huber of Stevenstown, Scott Huber of La Crosse. Stepsons Mike Hammes (Kate) of Holmen, Carl Hammes of Shell Lake WI, Tim (Stacy) Hammes of La Crosse, and Shawn Hammes of La Crescent, MN. Step-grandchildren Dana Samuelson, and Jessica and Jach Peek of Holmen, Jeannette Hammes of Fargo, ND, Austin Hammes of Wiaconia, MN, and Bryce and Dylan Hale of Stevenstown. Three brothers Joseph(Vernie) Huber of LaCrosse, Richard (Carol) Huber, and Mike (Shirley) Huber of Onalaska. Four sisters Donna (Bill) Jones of Onalaska, Marge Higdon of West Salem, Mary Brown and Judie Niedfeldt of Onalaska, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Rosemary.

Visitation will be Monday, July 5^th at 12:30 PM followed by the funeral service at 1:30 PM at Christ Church, 9^th and Main St., La Crosse with the Rev. Canon Patrick Augustine officiating.  Coulee Region Cremation Group at www.couleecremation.com is assisting the family.
