Walter “Butch” Wesley Reed

Walter “Butch” Wesley Reed, 72, of La Crosse passed away peacefully Friday, May 20, 2016 at his home.

He was born January 21, 1944 in La Crosse, to Kenneth and Carol (Nonstad) Reed and graduated from La Crosse Central High School in 1962.

Butch went from Wings to Wheels.  He started off flying model airplanes in the La Crosse Prop Club and spent a great deal of his childhood with his dad at Fanta Reed Air Service.  He moved on to racing go-carts in his teenage years which led him to cars. His love of cars led him to drag racing for over 10 years.

Butch attended WWTI for electronics and worked at Community Camera for 25 plus years and then moved on to United Auto Supply as a cylinder head machinist where he retired in 2006.

He is survived by his wife Julie (Rhodenhizer); a son Zach (Ashley Monsoor) Coon Valley; a daughter Nicole (John) Blaschke La Crosse ; grandchildren, Emma, Owen and Lola. Also surviving, his sister Marilyn (Glen) Foner, St. Charles, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth and Carol Reed.

A special “Thank you” to Bill Stichman, Skip Fuchs, Pastor Jason Schockman and all the friends that have been sending their well wishes.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 27, 2016 at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason Street Onalaska, with visitation one hour prior to service.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family
