Obituary
David Charles Turinski
David Charles Turinski, 63, of Holmen passed away unexpectedly at
home on Saturday, August 26 th , 2017. David was born on August 31,
1953, the fourth child of Margaret and Chet Turinski. He graduated
from Portage High School, went to UW-Stevens Point, and then joined
The Coast Guard. Through his service he learned his skills for his career
on the water. Sailing on a ship around Alaska and traveling around the
world as a merchant mariner were adventures that shaped his life.
He and his best friend and partner, Sue Polodna, spent ten years
traveling the world sharing his adventurous spirit (They met at an
airport at 4:30 a.m.). He loved to drive around looking at sights, fishing,
and swimming. Trips to the Mercer area on the Turtle Flambeau
Flowage allowed for some boating and fishing.
David was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and having lived in Seattle,
Washington for twenty years, he had a fondness for the Seattle Sea
Hawks. History and politics were intriguing for David and he could talk
about them for hours.
David was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his best friend and partner, Sue Polodna and her
children Aeron (Pat) and Wade (Desiree). Siblings include Joan (Jim),
Dwight (Kathy), Carol (Tom), and niece, Jordana, along with nephews,
James, Jason, Michael, Christopher, and Nicholas.
Memorials are preferred for Aquinas High School and The Holmen
Community Center. Granting David’s wishes, no memorial service is
being planned. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
