Donald Joseph Foote, 95, of Galesville, passed away peacefully on Sat., Sept. 8, 2018 at his home. He was born on June 17, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to Joseph and Martha (Schissler) Foote. He married Dorie M. Simpson on Dec. 22, 1944 at Fort Mason, in San Francisco, CA.

Don graduated from Meyers High School and was enlisted in the US Navy from Aug. 1942 to Nov. 1945. He was a 2^ndclass Petty Officer in the Gunnery Divison on the USS Mizar AFS-6. He served in the South Pacific and was involved in the liberation of the Philippines. He was employed by Racine Optical Co. as an optician before retiring. He was an active volunteer throughout his life. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, woodworking, fishing, and all outdoor activities. Above all, he cherished being with family.

Don is survived by his children, Richard (Mary), Danny (Lynda) and Linda Foote; sister, Irene Edwards; brother, Robert (Monique) Foote; grandchildren, Jeff (Holly) Springer, Greg (Sarabjeet) Springer, Melanie (Damon) Landro, Emily (Adam) Foote, Richard Foote Jr., Tracy (Carl) Da Costa; great grandchildren, Corinne, Trent, Madeline, Joseph, Norah, John, Hunter, Dylan, Iris, Evan, Jade, Abby, Marlee, Jack, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorie; sister, Charlotte; and grandson, Matthew Foote.

A funeral service will be held in his honor on Sat., Sept. 22, 2018 at 4 PM at Zion Lutheran Church, 20335 W. Gale Ave., Galesville, WI with visitation beginning at 2 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Elevator Fund or Sugar Creek Bible Camp in Ferryville, WI.
