Gary A. Kast, 68 of La Crosse, formerly of Cashton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 11, 2018 in his home surrounded by family members. He was born on May 20, 1950 to Joseph and Margaret (nee Antony) Kast and also was raised by mother, Eudora Kast. Gary married Tammy Kvistad, and later divorced and also married Karen Sliva, and they later divorced.

Gary served in the military and was a Vietnam war veteran, he drove semi-truck for many years, and he loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by his children, Tim, Mike (Heidi), Greg, and Ashley; grandchildren, Austin, Ariana, Marshall, Keaton, and Aleah; siblings, Tonya “Sis” Marsh, Roger (Dawn) Kast, Paul (Sue) Kast, Karen (Mike Abbott) Kast, Steve Kast, and Doris (Tony) Johnson; sister-in-law, Dawn Kast; and many other relatives and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Tammy Kvistad; parents, Joseph and Eudora; birth mother, Margaret; brother, Douglas; infant brother; and brother-in- law, Jack Marsh.

Honorary Pallbearers are Austin, Marshall, Matt, Dalton, Joe, Adam, DJ, and Steve Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1205 Front St., Cashton, WI 54619, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Visitation will also be held the night before on Wednesday, October 17, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska, WI 54650. Interment will follow the service Thursday at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Cashton, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are preferred.
