James Robert Marx
James Robert Marx, 60, of La Crosse, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. Jim was born April, 14, 1958 to Mary (Homstad) and Robert Marx, who precede him in death.
He is survived by a brother Robert (Ann) and their children Christopher Capizzi, Bobby and Becca Marx, all of Sun Prairie, WI, a sister Helen (Kelly) Michaels of Galesville, WI and special friends Connor and Colin Iverson of La Crosse, WI.
Jim was a 1976 graduate of La Crosse Central High School and a student at UW – La Crosse. Jim spent most of his life in La Crosse, except for his time working with The Ice Capades from 1982 -1997 where he travelled throughout the United States and Canada doing various jobs from carpentry, stage management and finally VP of Operations in Scottsdale, AZ. When Jim returned to La Crosse in 1997, he worked at the La Crosse Center for 10 years and then held a few other jobs until his disability in 2016. Jim was most proud of his time working with The Ice Capades and formed many lasting friendships. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed fishing and watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. He was a kind, witty and hard-working person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial gathering will be held Wednesday, May 16, 4 – 6 pm at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St. Onalaska.
A private burial will be at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
To know Jim was to love him. He had a delightful quick wit, great sense of humor; was kind, personable and engaging with a kind of charisma that made him well liked by everyone he met. A special light has gone out of this world with his passing and this truly wonderful guy will be deeply missed.
My heart especially goes out to Amy, Connor and Colin Iverson and Sue Thorson. Those close to Jim knew how important they were to him; how central they were to his life and how much time he spent with them on a daily basis. We are so incredibly sorry for their immense loss.

To Jim’s family: Your brother was an amazing man, but I don’t have too tell you that. I worked with Jim for many years with Ice Capades and we all just fell in love with him. He always always took care of everyone, no matter it being the fly girls or making sure the merch truck got its spot on the loading dock. He was the back bone of the show. I will miss him, and I am sorry for our loss. Rest Jim you are in the hands of our Lord and no longer in pain. Until we meet again my friend. Love you
I didn’t know Jim that well as he was a quiet kind of guy. He was a good companion on the road when we were with Ice Capades and I am sad that he has left us so young.
Prayers and sincere condolences .Jim was always a wonderful friend .Had some great times in Ice Caoades together. Still remember himnshwoing me around Green Bay Packer stadium.. Never forget his laugh and smile. And always being a genuine friend to me.

Jim was an amazing genuine guy that had a heart for others. He will he greatly missed and I am grateful to have worked with him in Ice Capades. May you have a peace knowing he touched the hearts of many.
I had not seen Jim for a very long time. Quite possibly since high school. I still thought of him as a dear friend. The last several years we kept in touch through FaceBook. I wanted very much to see him again but it was made difficult by the fact I live 700 miles from LaCrosse. Jim was my very first school friend. My family moved to LaCrosse in the summer of 1965 before our 2nd grade year. The first day of school I did not know anyone. This big kid came up to me on the playground and befriended me. It was Jim Marx. Even at that very young age he had a heart of gold and a caring and concern for others. Through our communication he reminded me of other adventures we got into together. Like in 5th grade when we made Creepy Crawlers and gave them to 2 girls we liked. In Elementary school we ice skated together at Erickson skating rink. I walked or rode my bike past his house almost every day on my way to school from elementary through high school. Rest in Peace my friend. I will remember you forever and carry with me the memories of our childhood together.
So sad to see you leave but happy for where you have gone. And all the beautiful memories you gave to all of us. You were always a Friend to me. Many times those were hard to come by.

Jim was truly one of the bright spots at Caroll Heights where we both lived. We spent many summer nights sitting outside while Jim entertained us with stories from his Ice Capade days. He was funny, kind and oh so genuine. I am so blessed to have known him. You will be missed, Jim!!
Went to Jr high and high school with Jim he was always a great guy to hang around with would do anything for anyone. I talked to him at the la crosse center a few times and ran in to him a couple of years ago and we talked for about a hour and talked about old times . Glad we had those memories that day rest in peace .
Jim was such a good guy. He always tried to do the right thing in his job, and always helped when he could. Im so sorry to hear of this loss.
To Jim’s Family. We toured with Jim in Ice Capades. He was kind, funny and a wonderful man. He was always pleasant back stage and loved football!! We are sorry to hear about his passing.Our thoughts are with you.
My thoughts are with your family as you grieve the loss of Jim. He was my first roommate in Hershey PA with Ice Capades 1984. It was the week of Thanksgiving and I was out on my own for the first time @ 19 yrs old. Jim was so joyful and kind to me. I knew that I had a friend that would support me through the challenges of being “The new Boy”. I always looked forward to being on tour with Jim, and learned to like football after getting his take on the sport. He will be missed by so many of the people who were lucky enough to have him on the crew. My most sincere condolences!!!
