Jeanne E. Schroeder, 91, of La Crescent passed away Monday June 19, in the presence of family at the Clara House in La Crescent, surrounded by their care and dedication.

Jeanne was born Nov 27, 1925, in La Crosse and was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Mary (White) Knudson, her brother Bill Hardiman, and her nephew Bill Hardiman Jr.

Jeanne met Bob Schroeder on a blind date in 1945 and they were married  Sept 06, 1947 in La Crosse at Christ Episcopal Church. She loved to entertain family and friends at their river home on Shore Acres which included fishing, boat rides on the Mississippi River, and annual golf outings on Memorial and Labor day. Jeanne was known for her decorating skills which added beauty to the holidays, and some of her holiday baking treats are now carried on by her children and grandchildren. Her knitting skills were reflected in the beautiful Norwegian sweaters and oversized Christmas stockings she made for her family. She was passionate towards all her family, never turning down an opportnity to spend time with them. She also valued and appreciated her many friends.

Jeanne grew up in La Crosse, graduated from Central, and attended Carroll College in Waukesha, Wi. She worked at Beadle-Ewing Insurance Agency for  20+  years, starting with its inception. Shortly after retirement, she and Bob started wintering in Panama City Beach, Fl., going there with the same people for 17 consecutive years.  She was a dedicated bridge player who played with the same group for 60+ years, and this group still plays weekly. She was an active member of Christ Episcopal Church, serving on Alter Guild and other committees.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 69 years; her children Dan (Carol) Schroeder, Jayne (Dave) Geissler, John (Jenny) Schroeder and Mary (Mike) Vaughan; sister Beth Hardiman; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephew, Jim Hardiman and other nephews and nieces.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday June 24, 2017 at 3:30 at Christ Episcopal Church in La Crosse with visitation from 2:30 until time of service.  Fr. Patrick Augustine will officiate.

Coulee Cremation will be handling arrangements. Memorials can be made to the church.

My condolences at this difficult time of loss. Jeanne was good to Bill and I. She gave our daughter a huge teddy bear when she was a baby and made an adorable Easter basket for her. Whenever I ran into her at Quillin’s we would catch up on things. I wish you all sweet memories of her and peace in your hearts. Sincetely,
