Kelly Michelle (Glasscock) Baird

April 18, 2018 | 8 comments

Kelly Michelle (Glasscock) Baird, age 57, peacefully met her Savior late Monday night, April 16, 2018 following a heroic 10-year battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded and loved by all her children as they sang her home.

Kelly was born on June 12, 1960 in Juneau, Alaska. She grew up in the mountains of Washington State, and was always a lover of God’s creation and the people around her. As a child she dreamed of farming and took it on herself to care for several horses and cows on the land her parents cared for. She attended Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, and was greatly influenced by many of the godly people there. Her education in drama and interpretation of children’s literature, though never a career, was used all her life to bless and enrich the lives of the children and families in her community.

She was married to Brad Baird on April 27, 1985 in Seattle, WA. They spent the first years of their marriage as Children’s Pastors in San Antonio, TX, where their first son was born. They moved back to Washington and built a home and hobby farm in the foothills of the Cascades, where they spent the next several years and had their next five children. Kelly’s desire to pass on the legacy of her childhood to her children prompted a move to Wisconsin to start a dairy farm in 1997, where the rest of her 10 children were born.

In 2008 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and there followed a painful separation from her husband. Through shattered dreams, she fought and prayed hard to give her children the life she envisioned for them. She deeply valued her children’s education, homeschooling them and even tutoring others when a need arose, right until the end. Her desire to see her children following their dreams and her uncompromising love is evident in each of their lives. Kelly embodied strength, dignity and purpose as she lived for her Savior through all the ups and downs of life, striving to be the rock her family needed.

Kelly is survived by her father, Gene Glasscock; her former husband Brad Baird; her siblings, Shawn (Tammy) Imboden, Shannon (Lori) Glasscock, Kacey Imboden, Shea (Krista) Glasscock, Mary Quinn (Dan) Rozkydal; her children, Christopher Baird, Ian (Lissy) Baird, Benne Baird, Brielle (Ben) Kauffman, Anneka Baird, Tullan Baird, Ethan Baird, Davita Baird, Elise Baird and Hallia Baird; her two grandchildren, Boaz and Judson Kauffman, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Ira Powell; her mother, Jeanette Imboden; and her brother Dan Schroeder;

Services are planned for Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11 o’clock am, at Viroqua Church of Christ, Viroqua, WI. A meal is planned following the service.

Condolences

    As a brother to Kelly, I must abmit I am so very blessed. Blessed to be aquainted to such a wonderful Sister, though lifes jouneys separated us by miles our bond was always very strong. We connected well as we conversed and prayed for each other. The ultimate healing is Hers now, gone are the days of pain and agony, the silent struggles that only Her heart will know. I will miss Her yes, but am so very happy for Her in that I know She is Home.

    My favorite memory of Kelly was when she taught choir to the homeschool group.
    She led us with such enthusiasm and flair for music and life. Her Joy and love was always pouring out of her.
    Praying for her dear family.
