Lewis Alan Borgman Jr., 67, born on Feb. 21, 1950, of Eastman, WI died in his home on Wed., Nov. 1, 2017 due to myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare disease which went unclassified in him for many years. In 1968, after graduation from Holland High School, MI, he served four years in the US Navy, where he was a torpedo specialist. He earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do and competed in many triathlons, such as the Ironman Triathlon in Austin, MN in 1982 and was champion of the Bicycle Time Trail in Illinois in 1990, where he broke every previous record by almost 10 minutes. He had an amazing sense of humor and was loved by all who had the honor to meet him.

He is survived by his wife, Mannick Borgman; mother, Louise Whitenight; brother, Ed Borgman; and sisters, Cathy Daniel and Sue Bush. He is preceded in death by his father, Lewis Alan Borgman Sr.

A small service was held by the family in his honor. A special thanks to Crossing Rivers Health Hospital, Dr. Rogge, and the many nurses at Mayo Clinic (Prarie Du Chien). In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Crossing River Health Hospice, 37868 US-18, Prairie du Chien, WI 53821. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

So very sorry for your loss. Lew was indeed a one and only. He will be missed by so many of us fortunate enough to have known him.

My sincerest condolences on the passing of Lew. He was a friend of my mother’s, Alberta Atkinson from Seneca. And I met him on a trip to visit my mother years ago. Gave me a ride on his motorcycle. Really nice guy.
