Our Dad, Norman Charles Deml of La Crosse passed away peacefully at the age of 90
on Monday, July 3, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife and family. Dad was born
May 3, 1927 in Genoa, WI to John and Lotus (Schubert) Deml. Early in his life the
family moved to La Crosse where he attended Holy Trinity School and Church,
serving as an alter boy. Dad served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II.
After returning home he married the love of his life, Janice Stange. They made their
home in La Crosse and raised ten children.
Dad, the “Chrysler Man”, had a love of automobiles and enjoyed a long career as a
master mechanic. He began his career at Eversole Rogers, owned and operated Todd
Motor Service for many years and retired from Gross Common Carrier as a member
of the Teamsters.
Dad was passionate toward his family and loved his children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren, you hardly every saw Dad without one of them on his lap.
He was a humble, selfless man, with a warm smile and incredible sense of humor. He
taught us the value of family, loyalty and hard work. He would drop everything at a
moments notice to help others.
Dad will be deeply missed by his wife Janice, children Gary, Cheryl (Dan) Dahle,
Steve (Anita), Duane (Ruth), Jackie (Richard) Brown, Norman Jr. Dan (Cheryl),
Tammy (Tom) Wetzel, Todd (Kathy) and Paul (Lisa), 19 grandchildren and 25 great-
grandchildren.
He is further survived by his siblings Lavon Brague, Mona (Tony) Colera, Robert,
Richard (Janice), Donald (Madi), Earl, Carl (Farrel), Gordon (Bonnie), sisters-in- law
Carol (Gene) Hollnagel and Verna Stange and many nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his parents John and Lotus Deml, Father and Mother in-law
John and Josephine Stange, brothers John and Ray Deml, brothers-in- law Ronald
Brague, Robert and Jack Stange, sisters-in- law Doris, Chris, Carol and Arlene Deml,

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, July 10 at Coulee Region
Cremation Group, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska. Family and friends may visit from
9am until the time of service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to
Dr Pavela, his staff, and the hospice team from Mayo Health Systems for their
compassionate care.
To my grandchildren and great grandchildren I leave you with a “gully gully”.
