George L. Rogers, 93, of Barre Mills passed away peacefully on Sept. 19, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 3, 1922 to Van and Lettie (Peterson) Rogers. On June 1st, 1948 he married Mary Ann Kathryn Hess and they were blessed with 67 years of marriage.

George proudly served his country in the Army during WWII as a Communication Specialist in Burma from 1941-1945. He felt honored to be a participant of the 2014 Freedom Honor Flight.

As a retiree from NSP for 33 yrs he loved to listen and dance to big band music. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing bluegills. George was a lifelong member of the WI Trappers Assoc. His Norwegian sense of humor was unmatched.

George had a love for God and was an active member of the St. Leo’s Catholic Parish.

George is survived by his loving wife; children: Jane (Lenny) Liebl, their children, Larry (Mary Jo), Becky (Rick), Katey (Shane); David (Wanda) Rogers & their children Emily & Adrianna; Mark (Laurie) Rogers, their children Justin (Krystal), Adam (Jessica), Lisa; Tim (Tracey) Rogers & their children Kyle (Jen) & Kayla; Sara (Rob) Stelloh & their children Chelsie, Derek, Nick; 8 Great-Grand Children, and many nieces,nephews, and friends.

George was preceeded in death by his son John, his parents, 2 sisters Helen Barclay & Evelyn Abicht, 5 brothers-in-law, & 2 sisters-in-law.

Family would like to thank Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice and Hillview for the special care that was given to George.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Leo the Great Church, 210 W. Hamlin St., West Salem. The Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate with private burial at a later time. Visitation will be held at the church from 8:30 am until the time of mass on Saturday.

Memorials may be given to Place of Grace in La Crosse or the La Crosse Warming Center for the Homeless. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
