August 13, 2016 | 1 comment

Judith Mary Schurhammer (Sullivan) died in her home on August 12, 2016 in La Crosse, WI. surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was 73.

Judy was born on March 10,1943 in La Crosse to her parents, George and Mildred Sullivan. She graduated from Aquinas High School in 1961. She married David Schurhammer on October 28, 1961. Being the good Catholic girl that she was, she soon had five young children. Judy had two more children later on to complete the package.

Judy will be fondly remembered by her seven children, 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The words that people would use to describe Judy would include selfless, loving, generous, funny, strong-willed, forgiving, supportive, persistent and caring, all with a healthy dose of sarcasm. She touched the lives of all who met her with her humor and love.

Judy is survived by David, her husband of nearly 55 years. She is survived by her seven children, John (Christine) of Onalaska, Ann of Oakdale, MN, Mary of Rochester, MN, Jim (Heather) of LaCrosse, Jeff (Carrie) of Sparta, Amy (Leland) of Madison and Joe of LaCrosse. Judy was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her 3 brothers Jerry, Tom and Steve and her 3 sisters Virginia Walsh, Diane Melby (her partner in crime) and Sue Henderson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She leaves behind and will be greatly missed by her faithful pups, Dexter (Baby) and Stewart.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mildred Sullivan and her brother-in-law, Richard Walsh.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 10:30 am at the Mary Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. Luncheon will immediately follow at the Moose Lodge in La Crosse. Father Brian Konopa will be our Celebrant. Visitations will be held from 9:30 am until the Mass at the Church on Monday, as well as Sunday, August 14th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. A prayer service and remembrance service will be lead by Deacon Richard Sage at 5:00 pm on Sunday at the Cremation Group.
