Larry Laverne Cox

Larry Laverne Cox, age 74 of Onalaska, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5th, 2016 at Gundersen Health System with his family by his side.

He was born on March 28th, 1942 in Vernon County to Lester and Lillian (Stalsberg) Cox. He grew up in the Bristow area, rural Viroqua . He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1960 and worked for a short time at the GM plant in Janesville. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in the Fall of 1960 and was stationed in Germany until the Fall of 1964. He met Margaret Worman that same year and were married in May of 1966. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May of this year. He was employed at the Trane Co, Gateway Foods, and Northern Engraving, all in the LaCrosse area and retired in 2002 due to health issues. He was well known for his sense of humor and enjoyed going out for breakfast every morning and spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife Margaret (Peggy), two sons, Troy Cox of Madison, Tony Cox of LaCrosse; three sisters, Lorna (Don) Becker of Milwaukee, Caryn (Jeffrey) Ostrem of Viroqua, and Judy Laufenburger of Minneapolis; two grandchildren, Stephanie  and Brandon Cox. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-law’s and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester & Lillian Cox, and his mother and father in law; Carl and Ruth Worman .

The family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System for their wonderful ,compassionate care. A special thank you to Cathy Ford, NP for her many years of taking care of Larry.

May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

    Hi Peggy so sorry for your loss. We lost Dick June 23 boy do we miss him. Larry was a great guy too. Marilyn Boardman and family
