Lorraine Marie Stokes, 72 and Lawrence William Stokes, 79 of La Crosse passed died peacefully on January 4, 2017 and January 5, 2017 respectively.  Lorraine was born on June 2, 1944 to Harold and Lucille Yahnke.  Lawrence was born on March 12, 1937 to Peter and Betty Stokes.

Lorraine and Lawrence enjoyed hosting holidays and family get togethers including lots of food and games. Lorraine was famous for her cottage cheese pancakes, they were always cooked with love. Lawrence was a hard worker and had a lasting affect on everyone he knew. He served in the Army National Guard for 37 years.

They are survived by their daughters, Lisa Thomas of West Salem and Danita Stokes of La Crosse; grandchildren, Breanne (Ryley) Weir of Salem, Nicco Stokes of La Crosse, and Wade Stokes of West Salem; great grandson, Keegan Weir of Salem; sisters, Beverly Smith of Chicago IL and Bonnie Byrne of Mondovi, and many other relatives and friends.

They were preceded in death by their parents; sisters, Anna Joten and Lorretta Peters, and son in law Joel Thomas.

The Family would like to send a special thank you to the caring staff at Hillview Health Care for taking such great care of Lawrence for many years.

A celebration of Lorraine and Lawrence’s lives will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St. Onalaska, WI.  Visitation will be held from 10 until the time of the service.  Chaplain Jeff Thomson will officiate.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
