Margaret M. Preuss, 93, of La Crosse, Wis., died Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse, Wis.Margaret was born January 14, 1921, to Edward and Martha (Liersch) Gloede in the town of Clifton.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Margaret was a member of the Tomah Senior High School graduating class of 1939.

On October 15^th, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eldon Preuss in Wilton, Wis.  Eldon and Margaret enjoyed happy years traveling and visiting their family and friends.  Margaret worked for many years at Auto-Lite Company in La Crosse, and retired as a cook in the La Crosse School District at Jefferson School.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Gladys Gloede of Wilton WI, nephews, Larry (Linda) Gloede, LaCrosse, Howard Gloede, Winona MN and a niece Diane Gloede, Dell WI.

Margaret was a devoted wife and sister and a loving aunt.  She had an optimistic outlook, good humor and a warm laugh that stayed with her to the end.  She enjoyed tending her flowers and yard and had an incredible green thumb.  She was still gardening into her 90’s.  An avid reader and animal lover, she lighted the world of all who knew her by her intelligence, wit, kindness and caring.  She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her.

Margaret was preceded in death her husband, her parents, and her brother Raymond Gloede.

Funeral services will be held at the Cremation Region Cremation Group and Funeral Home, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska, WI on Friday, December 12 at 12:00 pm.  Relatives and friends are invited to call from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.   Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. at the same location.
