Shannon Marie Treu
Shannon Marie Treu age 47 of Sparta, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 11, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. Shannon was born on March 13, 1969 to Robert W. and Mary B. Treu. She married Dan Walters June 2, 1990 and was later divorced.
Shannon grew up in Sparta, WI and graduated from Sparta High School in 1987. Shannon worked as a cook for the Child Care Center in Sparta and also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for the Morrow Home in Sparta. Due to complications of diabetes, she left her work as a CNA to raise her two children.
Shannon endured many physical challenges due to her illness but always had a positive out look on her life. Her smile reassured her loved ones daily. Shannon’s memory lives on through her loved ones as we smile, laugh, and reflect on the love and grace she showed us daily.
Shannon is survived by her children, son Dustin Walters and daughter Danielle (Shane) Severson, two grandsons Austin and Brandon who were the apple of her eyes and the light of her life. Her parents Robert W. and Mary B. Treu, grandfather James Treu, sisters, Bobbie (Jeff) Schamens, Billie Treu, nephews, Brodie, Peyton, Malaki, Jordan, Ricky, and niece Terra. Eight uncles, two aunts, and many cousins, and extended family and friends.
Shannon is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Hilbert and Ellen Steyer, and Paternal grandmother Virginia Treu.
Special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Mayo Clinic Health System and ICU who made her last days as comfortable as possible. To the Onalaska dialysis unit for years of care. To all the friends and family that were supportive over the years. Shannon made many friends through the years and touched many lives in her shortened time with us.
A Celebration of Life will be held at New Life Assembly of God in Sparta at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 17, 2016. Visitations will be held one hour prior to the service and from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday September 16, 2016 also at the church.
