Joanne Wilma (Timm) Moe
Joanne Wilma (Timm) Moe, 79, of Onalaska, Wisc., formerly of Holmen, passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, July 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Joanne was born on December 21, 1945, in La Crosse, WI, to Rex and Muriel (O’Leary) Timm. She was raised in Mindoro and graduated from Mindoro High School in 1964. On May 20, 1967, she married the love of her life, Clayton Moe. Together, they built a beautiful life and celebrated 50 wonderful years of marriage in 2017.
Joanne attended clerical classes at Western Wisconsin Technical Institute. She worked at G. Heileman Brewing Company in La Crosse. She later chose to stay home to raise her daughters and lovingly provided daycare for neighborhood children. She also worked as a lefse baker at Sweden Coulee Lefse and a factory worker at Northern Engraving for 18 years before retiring. Joanne loved being a stay-at-home mom, and she joked that her favorite job was retirement!
Joanne was known for her positive outlook, warm personality, and gift to strike up a conversation with anyone. She cherished time spent with her family and her circle of close friends and enjoyed playing cards and bingo, trips to the casino, and time with her granddog, Bailey. She loved country music and spent countless hours listening to her favorite artists, Terry Smith and Daniel O’Donnell. Joanne’s lefse was a family favorite, made with love throughout the year, and was always looked forward to. More than anything, she adored her family, especially her three granddaughters, with whom she shared many treasured memories.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Theresa “Teri” (Moe) and son-in-law Brian Sanders of Holmen, WI; daughter Mary (Moe) and son-in-law Matt Bakken of Highlands Ranch, CO; three adored granddaughters: Alaina, Jade, and Korinne Bakken of Highlands Ranch, CO; special sister Mary Larson of Pewaukee, WI, sisters-in-law: Gloria Cassel of Onalaska, WI, Mollie and her husband Doug Haskell of La Crosse, WI; Vernetta Moe of West Salem, WI, and Barb Moe of Mondovi, WI, and brother-in-law Hjal Jonsen of Spring Grove, MN; and many special cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Rex and Muriel (O’Leary) Timm of Mindoro, WI; brother John Timm of Melrose, WI, her loving husband Clayton Moe of Onalaska, WI, in-laws: James Larson of Pewaukee, WI, Arthur and Leatrice Moe of Stone Lake, WI, Burton and Jan Moe of Kirkland, WA and Buffalo City, WI, Homer Moe of West Salem, WI, Aldin Moe of Mondovi, WI, Joyce and Verlan Urban of Rockland, WI, Donald Cassel of Onalaska, WI, and Thomas Kemp of La Crosse, WI.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Gundersen Health System and Gundersen Hospice for their compassionate care.
Joanne was a devoted wife, loving mother and sister, and proud grandmother. Her warmth, kindness, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
I was fortunate enough to spend a little time with Joanne on a few special occasions when she visited Highlands Ranch to see her beloved family. It was obvious how much she adored her granddaughters, and in the photos of her as a young woman, I can see the resemblance so clearly! I was always tickled by her accent and the stories that were so familiar to my own family’s midwestern tales. She will be missed, but her memory will live on in all of you. Love and peace to the entire family.
Prayers and thoughts for family and friends of Joanne. I met her through my sister Linda C. this past year. Nice lady and easy to get to know. Joanne was so full of energy and fun when I met her. I am so sorry, Lynette (Schaller) Neumann.
Joanne was a joy. Always cheerful. I will miss her positive attitude. 💞
