Obituary

Debi J. Erickson

November 25, 2013 | 3 comments

Debi J. Erickson, 57, of La Crosse passed away peacefully at home November 24, 2013 with her loving family beside her, just over two months from being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

She was born November 1, 1956 to James and Betty Callan. She graduated from Logan High School in 1975. On January 5, 1984 she married Terry Erickson.

Debi worked at Metallics, La Crosse Footwear, Isola, and for the past 12 years as a phlebotomist at Gundersen Health System. Patients would often request her because of her gentle and caring nature.

Debi was a down to earth gal with a heart of gold who always put others before herself. Her greatest loves were her family, co-workers, her flower garden, and times spent at the cabin and on the river on their pontoon boat. She loved Halloween and won many contests for her creative costumes. Shopping on Black Friday was an annual tradition with her son, Brandon. Spoiling family with endless gifts at Christmas was her trademark.

She is survived by her husband, Terry; sons, Michael (Tracy) Wallen, Port Edwards, WI; Brandon (Christina) Erickson, Onalaska, WI; Josh (Lynn) Erickson, La Crosse, WI; grandchildren Chloe and Brody Wallen; Chantler, Colten, and Kieley Erickson; mother, Betty Callan, Onalaska, WI; siblings, Mike (Karen) Callan, Coon Valley, WI; Doug (Marsha) Callan, Stevens Point, WI; Paul (Kathy) Callan, Onalaska, WI; Cathy (Mike) Allison, Onalaska, WI; Terry’s sibling’s Vickie (Stacey) Freppon, Stillwater, OK; Mike (Chyrel) Erickson, La Crosse, WI; Donna (Dave) Stackhouse, Waumandee, WI; and Timmy (Beth) Erickson, La Crosse, WI. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and special friends and co-workers.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Matthew Callan in 1961; her father, James Callan in 2012, and mother in law, Myrtle Erickson in 2010.

The family would like to thank the Gundersen Health System hospice team and family, friends, co-workers, and even strangers for their overwhelming love and support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and may be directed to a charity of your choice in Debi’s memory.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill street, La Crosse, WI at 11 AM. Visitation will be at the church from 9 AM to the time of the service. Pastor Erik Feig will officiate. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be at Garden of Peace Mausoleum, Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.

No one is dead until they are forgotten

And we will never forget

So she will live on

In the lives she touched

as Wife

Co-worker and Friend

We are very sorry to read about Debi’s illness and passing. Mike and Karen, our deepest sympathy to you and all of Debi’s family. We are in Florida for the Winter so we would not be able to attend the visitation or services. She will certainly NEVER be forgotten.
