Nellie M. Muller

Nellie Muller of La Farge, Wisconsin passed away Monday February 24th at Gunderson Hospital. She was born to Buford and May (Merwin) Kite March 5, 1922 in Grant County near Blue River, Wisconsin. She was married to Earl Jacobson and they had a daughter, Judie. Later she married Don Muller and had one son Loren. In addition to living and working in La Farge, they also lived in La Crosse, Wisconsin and managed a motel in Sauk City, Wisconsin and then returned to La Farge to continue their life together. Don passed away June 9, 1988.

She worked for the Browns at the theater in La Farge for several years, including running a soda fountain in the basement of the theater. She later worked at the grocery store on the east end of town through three owners for a total of 27 years. She eventually retired from the grocery store and became the resident manager for the Hometown Village apartments for 23 years. She loved that job and helping the folks whom she cared so much for. While working at the Hometown Apartments she also was editor of a column called “The Hometown News”. She retired in April 2013 at the age of 91. At that time she moved to the country to live with her son Loren.

She leaves to mourn one daughter, Judie Jacobson, and one son Loren Muller as well as one granddaughter, Suzan Harris (all of La Farge) and one grandson, Douglas Harris of Frenchtown, Montana. She has 5 great grandchildren; Daniel Williams and Cody Harris, children of Suzan and Tessa, Virginia and Lane Harris, children of Doug, plus one great – great granddaughter Shannon daughter of grandson Daniel. She also leaves behind her sisters Betty Kotte, LaVetta Bryant, LaVene Mistick, Neva Virnig and Brother David Kite as well as Maxine Krattinger, Wayne Kite, Charlotte Carlberg, Nancy Hach, and Carolyn Kite and their families as well as a variety of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, Sister Madalyn Gabrielson and one brother Carl Kite.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at the La Farge United Methodist Church, 212 E Penn St., La Farge, WI. Pastor Karen Bankes will officiate. A visitation will be held from 9:00 until 11:30 am at the church on Saturday. Coulee Region Cremation Group of Onalaska is assisting the family.
