She was born in Snow Hill, North Carolina on July 27, 1922 to Lizzie and Rufus Carter. She married Gaylord Sneath December 1, 1996 in Madison, WI.

She was well loved by her family, friends and customers. She always wanted the best for her children and tried to give them things she never had.
Clara had a very generous heart. She organized and made pies, cookies, and everyone’s favorite, Peanut Butter Balls, for 4 years where she had resided at Ping Manor for 18 years before moving in with her daughter.
