Marjorie Ellen Kirchoff, 78, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at her daughter’s home in West Salem.

She was born on April 18, 1933 to Roy and Bergetta Arttus.

 

Margie moved to California to live with her sister Beverly in 1952. It was there she met and married Carl Kirchoff and they had a daughter, Kim. After their divorce, she and Kim moved back to La Crosse. She worked in the restaurant business for many years becoming well known to many people. She loved working with the public. Her son Randy was born in 1963. She was a foster parent to many infants to teens during the 70’s, many of whom knew the value of her love and guidance and kept in touch through the years. Margie was a single mother working two jobs long before it was an acceptable role.

 

After Margie retired, she moved to Washington to be near her daughter Kim and her grandchildren Erica and Brian. Those were enjoyable years for her. Margie was a strong, courageous woman surviving breast cancer and the loss of her son Randy in 1991. A devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many. If you had a Margie’s friendship you had it for life. She will be missed!

 

Margie is survived by her daughter, Kim (Richard Gay) Wright; grandson, Brian Wright; granddaughter, Erica (Bill) Richardson, great-grandchildren, Chloe, Quinton, and Cali; siblings, Beverly Tazelaar, Sally (Ole) Olson, Bonna Tauscher, Gilbert Arttus, Philip Arttus, Kaye Maxwell, Harlan (Chris) Arttus; sister-in-law, Vivian Arttus; many relatives and friends.

 

Margie is preceded in death by her parents; 2 infant brothers; son, Randy; brother, Fred Arttus; brother-in-law, Marv Tauscher; sisters-in-law, Pauletta Arttus, Darlene Dent; and nephew, Greg Olson.

 

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 from Noon to 3:00 pm at the Oak Grove Cemetery Chapel, 1407 La Crosse St., La Crosse. Online condolences may be left at www.couleecremation.com. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
