Helen J. Walker
Helen J. Walker, 101, of Onalaska passed away December 30, 2014 after leading a wonderful life.
She was born on February 26, 1913 in Lancaster, WI to Burr and Myrtle Walker. After attending high school in Lancaster, she continued her education at Platteville Teachers College graduating in 1935. She taught 4th through 7th grades for many years with the last 28 in Fullerton, California. She loved to travel and visited all 50 states along with many trips to European Countries and South America.
After 62 years in California, she made the voyage back to Wisconsin in 2005 settling in Onalaska and getting her first pair of long underwear at 92.
Helen is survived by her closest family, Beuford and Phyllis Fry of Onalaska; Bradford (Jenifer) Fry and their children Jenna and Josie; God-son, Kevin (Karleen) Fry and their son Kyler; Francis (Jayne) Tippett and family; Greg (Debbie) Saphner and family.
The family would like to extend appreciation to the Gundersen Health System team of many doctors and nurses, Ona Terrace, Sterling House and Onalaska Care Center for the care throughout the years. A special thank you from the family to Dr. Borge and Pastor Jenny Arneson for the personalized care and comforting words.
A private celebration of Helen’s life will be held for the family. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
