The DeLaney’s
We are so appreciative of your concern. Todd was always a dear, to work with.
What to say about Dr. Bachop. So many things; he was brilliant yet so easy to approach. He made embryology and genetics enjoyable and had a unique teaching style. He occasionally taught in the anatomy lab and I never knew just how knowledgeable he was until he navigated and lectured over a cadaver without pausing even for a second to think.
When I took genetics with him I missed the last week of the semester because of the flu. I met him the next semester at his office to take the final. He began a conversation and asked me of my opinion regarding various aspects of the school and we just kept talking. I said to him “Dr. Bachop, I’m not going to have enough time to take the final, I have another class in 30 minutes”. He said to me that he had reviewed my grades for the semester and was confident that I knew the material and that there was no need for me to take the final.
Dr. Bachop was a teacher that you could approach as not only an instructor but as a friend. More than his knowledge, more than graciousness, more than his approachable personality there was just something special about him that made him greater than the sum of his parts. I will always maintain fond memories of him.
Your statement made me cry…It is so wonderful that he is remembered as the amazing man that he was. Not only did he take care of my sister & I, but our dear mother, debilitated by Multiple Sclerosis (back then, the only drug was Valium). God bless you!
God bless you
