Obituary

Shawna Marie Delyea

May 18, 2021 | 6 comments

Shawna was born on Oct. 3rd, 1994 and passed away unexpectedly on May 15th, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of the La Crosse area and graduated from Holmen High School in 2014. She enjoyed many passions throughout her short life and loved nothing more than sharing those passions with those around her. As a young child she was active in many activities including singing, karate, girl scouts, volleyball, soccer, softball, band, and dance. She was always a social butterfly and if she could be in the sun with people around that she cared about, she was there. Shawna also enjoyed being in nature while fishing, boating, snowboarding, and going to the beach. As she grew older and more independent, she discovered her deep love for music and enjoyed spending lots of time with her friends at school activities and High Roller.

After high school Shawna worked in restaurants and retail management and was beloved by coworkers and guests alike. At this time, she also began exploring her passion for music and music festivals. She spent many weekends with friends enjoying EDM and more at venues around the country. She was fiercely honest and protective of those she cared about and would not hesitate to defend anyone if they needed her. She was a free spirit with a deep and kind soul. She liked to enjoy life and would often joke that she should’ve been born in the 70’s. With her effervescent personality and unique fashion, she brought color and vibrance to the lives of all those she knew. Her family and friends miss her dearly. Shawna lived every day to the fullest and was a ray of pure sunlight. Shawna shared a piece of her light with each of us to keep in our hearts forever.

Shawna is survived by her mother, Tina Anderson; father, Rick Delyea; siblings: Jolin Taylor, Joshua (Erin) Anderson, Joel Delyea, Ricky Anderson; nephews: David Tuquero, Jonathan Guggenbuehl, Alexander Guggenbuehl, Lennon Anderson; Grandmother, Betty; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert (Sandra) Anderson; uncle, Tom Anderson; brother, Jonathan Anderson; and nephew, Joshua Anderson.

The family would like to thank the many wonderful caregivers at the Coulee Region Cremation Group.

A memorial service will be held at 4:20 pm on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska, WI., with a time for family and friends to gather from 2:30 until the time of the service.  Chaplain Jeff Thomson will officiate.
