Larry Jo Richardson

Larry Jo Richardson, age 77, of Onalaska, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2021 at his home, surrounded by family.  He was born on December 18, 1943 to Burton and Barbara Richardson.  He married Rose Mary Polivoda on January 13, 1968 in La Crosse, WI.

Larry enjoyed reading, watching westerns on TV, playing solitaire on the computer, and genealogy.  He served his country for 3 years active duty in the US Army and Army Reserves until retirement.  He worked for many years at Fort McCoy as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Maintenance Tech until retirement as a civil employee.   He was active in Boy Scouts and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Wendy (John) Marlowe; wife, Rose Mary; and sons, Jeffrey B (Tom Mc Entegart), Jarrod L (Jennifer), and James A (Holly Solberg) Richardson.  He is further survived by 10 grandchildren, and sisters, Linda Smith and Christie Howenstein.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Loma Thomas, Sheila Myren, and Judith Lysaker.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice Staff and Tri State Ambulance.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St. Onalaska, with visitation from 4:00 pm until the time of the service.  Chaplain Jeff Thomson will officiate.  A private burial will be held at Walnut Mound Cemetery in Retreat, WI.

    So sorry Rose and family for your loss. Larry and I go way back to the 70s and 80s at River Steel Inc. days and many card parties, Union picnics and a few beers along the the way. I admit, I had not seen Larry for a couple of years but always considered him a good friend. He was kind enough to drive me to the Madison VA hospital for an appointment a couple of times in the past. He was a good man and will be missed by many.
