Obituary

James L. Boudreau

January 14, 2022 | 22 comments

James L. Boudreau of La Crosse, WI passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022, after a long battle of different medical complications but most recently the battle he fought hard against lung cancer on January 11, 2022. God answered our prayers to end pain and suffering for Jim as he was welcomed Home to heaven and is starting a new beginning.

He enjoyed many parts of living like fishing, golfing, playing games, watching sports (even re-runs of Badger and Packer football games) but most of all he found great fulfillment in being with family and friends.  His sense of style and fashion was well known by all who knew him.  He took pride in making sure his appearance was spot on and his signature wear usually had a pastel top and sharply pressed jeans.  He would always make you laugh, no matter what the situation; he liked to have fun!

Jim said goodbye to his “significant other”, as he always called her, Karen Newbury, his daughters Rene’ Jacobs-Guentner (Todd Guentner) and Jamie Day (Daniel Day), his grandchildren Trent Jacobs (Katie Jacobs), Emily Juneau (Aaron Juneau), Amelia Guentner, Emery Day (Haley Day), Hanna Day and Clare Day, and his great grandchildren Logan, Lydia, Calloway and Alden (a.k.a. The Prince).  He is also survived by his three siblings and their families. He left a note for us that we found after he passed and at the end it said:  You may be gone from my sight, but you will never be gone from my heart.

A Celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 29th at Coulee Region Cremation in Onalaska.  Visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of services.  A celebration luncheon will be held after the service for those interested in sharing stories with the family.

The family would like to thank Gunderson Hospice, and their staff who guided them and cared for Jim in such beautiful ways, and Coulee Region Cremation for their assistance during this difficult time.

Condolences

I knew Jim from Gateway Foods where he was my boss for a couple of years. He was fun, caring, and appreciative of the work I did for the department. He even came to my wedding reception and gave us a beautiful gift. It was a wonderful surprise.
He fought a long and hard battle, but the time had come for him to leave.
Thanks to God he has been relieved of pain and his many health issues.
Rest in Peace Jim. You deserve it.

We all know the “ fun” part of Jim, let’s not forget his grocery career with Gateway Foods. Jim was a very smart and astute grocer. When he spoke, you listened. Always enjoyed our conversations.

  18. See + Walmart Onalaska pharmacy

My deepest condolences to the family and Karen. We have always enjoyed his presences at the pharmacy and his funny sense of humor. I remember when we first meet Jim, it wasn’t under the best circumstances at the pharmacy since he was fighting for his life at the time. He will be dearly missed.

To Karen, thank you so much for taking care of Jim and bring him to see the pharmacy staff. Your love for Jim and good deed will not go unnoticed.

May he no longer suffer and Rest In Peace.

  19. Sue McKenna

    Family of Jim Boudreau,
First I worked for Jim taking care of his apartment when he lived at Stonebridge Apts. He was a
awesome client. We both spoiled each other. I specialized in baking cookies, etc. He loved to party
with me (Lefty) and my husband Neil at the VFW, Windsor Food and Spirits, Platteville Golf Course.
Lots of Great Times with Jim, Don Iverson, Randy Grimes etc. His laugh and his smile and all the hugs will be with me forever. He will be missed greatly. He may not be partying with us, but he is still having a great time. Cheers to you Jim.

Rene, Jamie, Karen & all of your families,
May your memories of him & the love within your hearts help you find peace during this difficult time. Our deepest sympathy to you all.
