Susan E. Gardner, age 84, passed away peacefully at Gunderson Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, WI on Thursday, March 3, 2022.

There will be a private celebration of life.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is in charge of arrangements.

Susan was born on October 13, 1937, in Mason City, IA to Fred & Geneva Wolkenhauer.  Growing up in Mason City, she graduated Mason City High School in 1955.  Sue united in marriage to Ray Gardner on December 31, 1960.  In the early days, she owned Retread Threads in Mason City, worked for Ray Clough law office, finished her career with CenturyTel in LaCrosse, retiring in 2001.  She had a great love for animals and had many dogs thru the years.  She enjoyed collecting antiques, volunteering for Salvation Army, walking her dogs and the outdoors.

Sue is survived by her son, Douglas (Tami) Gardner of Eagle Lake, MN; grandsons, Joshua & Brett Gardner; sister, Barbara Chambers of San Jose, CA; brother, Stephen (Tomoko) Wolkenhauer of Georgetown, IN; and nieces & nephews.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray on October 5, 2007; sister, Marion Woods; brother-in-law, Sheridan “Jerry” Chambers.

Sue’s family would like to thank all the staff at Gunderson for the care and love they gave Sue during her last 2 weeks there.  In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials can be made to your local humane society.  Remembrance and condolences may also be mailed to the family at 128 Mathew Ct., Eagle Lake, MN 56024
