Carol Dawn Reise , 76, passed away on December 18, 2022 at Gundersen Lutheran Health Systems, La Crosse surrounded by her family.  She was born November 8, 1946 in La Crosse, WI.  Carol was raised on Brice’s prairie, daughter to Cecelia–Starr Blackdeer, sister to brother Richard “Joe” and Donald, and sister to Cecelia and Gladys. In her early years, she attended Holmen-area schools. Carol married Gordon Reise in 1965 and had two sons, Richard and Robert. She worked for La Crosse footwear for 40 years and lived in the La Crosse area her entire life. Carol had many interests, mostly artistic, whether it be stained glass, photography, the many things she created or the things she collected, she had a real eye for the beauty in the things that surrounded her in the natural world. She would often point out the changing of the seasons or maybe a bright planet or star that would catch her eye.

She also enjoyed her occasional trips to the casino to meet her sister or trips around the country with her husband Gordy.  she had a real sense of humor but you better be paying attention, very subtle to say the least. Lastly she had a real love for the many dogs that she and Gordy had and still have in their lives, but mainly a pug named Ben-Sluggo who she had a special connection with. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gordon, sons Richard and Robert,  sister Gladys Starr-Ebata and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cecelia Starr-Blackdeer; brothers Richard “Joe”, and Donald Starr-Blackdeer and sister Cecelia Dobbs.
