Obituary
Richard “Dick” Rolff
Richard “Dick” Du-Wayne Rolff 77, of LaCrosse passed away July 8th at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. He was born November 19, 1945 to Louis and Gladys Rolff. He married Lillian Cooklin and they would have celebrated their 55th Anniversary August 24th.
We never heard Richard called by his name. It was Dad, Grampa Dick, Uncle Dick or Coach. He never met a stranger and took everyone under his wing. Dick was an amazing father and role model. He was most proud of being a Grampa. Each grandchild had a special place in his heart and he never had a favorite. He treasured every moment he had with family. If Grampa or Uncle Dick wasnt coaching he was on the sidelines being their biggest cheerleader. He never missed a game or event. Dick knew every trick and joke in the book. He was a man of many talents from handyman to electrician to tax preparer, to Santa Claus(helper). Dick operated a mobile home service for many years. If there was anything this man didn’t know how to do, we didn’t know it. Dick was always the Rock, the Glue, the “Smoother Outer.” Dick was a hardworking man and was quick to offer help when needed, and demanded nothing in return. His love for his wife and family was unwavering. Dick was very proud of his military service and loved to share stories of his days in Germany. Dick was a fan of the Brewers, the Packers and whatever team his kids and grandkids played on. He was already a “GREAT” Grampa and was expecting to become a great-grandfather later this year.
Dick is survived by his wife Lillian. Daughter Tracy (Brad) Sherer. Son Shane (Katey) their children Koy and Sadey. Daughter Jodi (Al) Doerr children Brandyn, Brett, Kelsey, stepchildren Mitchell, Madison, and Macy. Two unborn great-grandchildren. Sisters Donna, Darleen and Sandy. Sisters-in-law Bonnie and Edna. Many special Nieces and Nephews.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Stepfather Ray Otis, Brothers Fred and Butch. Brothers-in-law Ron, Gene,Jerry, and Bill. Nephew Rusty.
Thank you to the doctors and nursing staff at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. A very special thank you to Jenny and Carol (Palliative Care). In Lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family, Veterans Administration or St. Judes Children Hospital.
Services will be held at the Gathering Place 133 Mason Street Onalaska, on Sunday, July 23, from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm with memories being shared prior to Military Honors at 4:00 pm.
