Herbert Richard Hucke
Herbert Richard Hucke aged 85 passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023 at Gundersen Health in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
He was born on August 19, 1938 to Herbert and Evelyn Hucke in Clifton, New Jersey. He married April on May 19, 2013 at Olivet Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Herb loved theatre and performed with the Brookfield players of Brookfield, Wisconsin. He performed in more than 50 plays. Herb enjoyed many travel experiences and cruises. He was an active member of Olivet Lutheran Church, La Crosse, Wisconsin. Herb was also a proud veteran, serving in the army at Fort Huachuca, Arizona 1961 to 1963.
Survived by his wife April of La Crosse, WI, son David, daughter Nancy Bast and son-in-law Dan Bast of Oconomowoc, Wi., grandchildren Emma Bast of Milwaukee, Wi. and Ethan, of Oconomowoc, Wi., a student at UWM, brother Gene Hucke of Wayne, New Jersey, and his family. Sister Betsy Lauritano and her family Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Step family: Aaron Lewis, Olivia Lewis and Austin Gallmen-Brown of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Herb was cherished by and proud of his family.
Preceded in death by his Mother Evelyn Schmitz-Hucke and Father Herbert Hucke (born in Germany) of Halden, New Jersey.
Thank you to Gundersen Health of La Crosse, WI, VA Medical Center- La Crosse and Tomah. Brightstar-in-Home Care staff who provided special care for the past 5 plus years.
A memorial service at Noon on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Olivet Lutheran Church, 2100 Bainbridge Street, La Crosse, Wisconsin, with lunch following. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The services will be officiated by Pastor Jeremy Walloch.

I really enjoy the hours I spent in your home giving you hair care services. Last year at this time we planned a Octoberfest dinner and instead of making it …you both went out to the German restaurant and bought the meal…sooo good and so generous of you both. Mr Broadway …is how I will always remember him…such a charactor
I will miss those good times.
Herb was a former manager of mine through PTI, he was a GREAT GUY!!!! So sorry for your loss April.
