Dale Irvin Schlesser, 62, of Galesville, WI, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2023 at Gundersen Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.

He was born on July 11, 1961 to Irvin and Marcella Schlesser.

Dale bought his life-long farm in 1986 where he farmed, milked cows, and hunted. Later, he was happy to welcome Cindy and her daughters. Dale’s greatest joy was spending time with friends and family; especially his grandkids. He loved teaching them about hunting, farming, sharing many life lessons, and lots of “words of wisdom”.  He spent time with them playing tractors, working on the farm, watching their sporting events, and hunting.

Dale was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time in the woods. He treasured the time with this hunting buddies and sitting in the garage reminiscing of past and present hunts. He also enjoyed sharing his passion of hunting with many youth hunters and inspired them to be life-long hunters.

Dale was always willing to help a neighbor or a friend and cherished these friendships.

Dale is survived by his significant other, Cindy. His bonus daughters: Heather (Chad) Backler, Heidi Jo (Ashley) Mathews, & Holly (Kyle) Willinger. His grandchildren: Ethan & Coyan Backler, Colton, Alexis, & Braxtyn Mathews, Ryelynn Dezelske, Adriana Berger, Arissa, & Audrey Willinger. Siblings: Steve (Patti) Schlesser, Marvin (Bonnie) Schlesser, Dennis (Jill Nash) Schlesser, Sally (Lawrence) Hammond, Sister-in-law Darlene Schlesser, Brother-in-law Duane Glenzinski, mother-in-law, Marge Hewitt, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. He also had his beloved dog, Freckles.

Dale is proceeded in death by his parents, sister Judy Glenzinski, and brothers Richard and Jack Schlesser, Father-in-law, Gary Hewitt.

Dale’s family would like to thank family and friends for their support, help, and all the visits at home and at the hospital. We also send our sincere thank you to the staff at Gundersen Health in Oncology, 6th floor Medical Oncology, and Palliative/Hospice Care for their compassionate care and comfort that we all received during this time.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.

Condolences
