John P. Marcou
John P. Marcou died unexpectedly on Friday, August 23, 2024. He was born January 11, 1950, to John and Margaret Marcou in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He and his wife Becky were married on December 20, 1969, and raised their family in Holmen, Wisconsin.
John began his career at Jerry’s Deep Rock in La Crosse, Wisconsin as a mechanic. In 1975, he took a job with the City of Onalaska and retired as Onalaska’s Public Works Foreman after thirty years of service. As a very talented mechanic, there wasn’t anything he could not fix. John was an avid, highly skilled woodsman and fishing expert. His knowledge, craft, and a strong work ethic were proudly passed onto his children. He was a faithful Packer fan, a natural jokester, a master of the grill, and one who took great pride in manicuring his perfect lawn.
John is survived by his wife, Becky of 54 years; his children: Tracy Hatch of Trempealeau, Kari (Ron) Tischer of Stoddard, John (Kristen) Marcou of Holmen, Tim (Shana) Marcou of Bangor, and Scott (Darcy) Marcou of Kenai, Alaska; his thirteen grandchildren: Daniel, Brandon, Pamela, and Kimberly Hatch, Kayla Nofsinger, Samantha McMahon, Jameson, Jordyn, Jonathan, Jackson, Madison, Isabella, and Oscar Marcou; his eight great-grandchildren: Parker, Brooklyn, Victoria, Charlotte, Freya, Lincon, Jasper, and Hailey; his siblings: Judy (Larry) Clements, Mike (Stacy) Marcou, Paula Servais, Mary Marcou, and Patty (Bob) Jones; many cousins, friends, and his beloved dog Sunner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his eldest grandson David Hatch, four angelic great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law, Mike Servais.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thank you to Lieutenant Michael Valencia, Eric, and the Coulee Region Cremation Group. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 1:30-5pm at the West Halfway Creek Shelter in Holmen.

Becky and family. Jim and I are so sad to hear of John’s death. Jim will remember fondly of the laughter shared over one of John’s hunting and fishing stories. He was always a good friend of Jim’s and will be missed.
